Needing time away from both her vexing fiancé and her estate in general after a troubling case that involved a former maid, Nora Blessington has left to stay in the metropolis of Brennenburg. Taking with her a couple of maids servants and her best friend and protector Jennifer Dale, she intends to rest and recuperate. Plans change when one of her maids, a quiet and mousey young woman named Victoria, recognizes the priest’s photo on the front page of the newspaper. Her painful story of abuse and near sexual assault as a child by his hands moves Nora to look into what the priest spoke to the newspaper about; a fire that consumed a local cathedral. It was reported that none had died, but knowing he’s a liar and willing to do anything to save face, Nora doubts his word. Under the cover of a misty night, accompanied by her protector, Nora sneaks into the burned shell of the Cathedral. She finds more than just the bodies of faithful parishioners; she uncovers a secret order of nuns devoted to pain, purity, and the redemption of sin through sex and sadism. As an unintended consequence, Nora experiences a sexual awakening she’s unable to repress and must struggle between shame and passion. This new awakening also changes and strains the relationships she has with Jennifer, her long time companion, and her maids. The Church of Flesh & Fire is an occult mystery with intense erotic and religious fetishism in a Victorian like setting. |
